Donnie Darko Ruined Bunnies For Me

Image
Well, how was your Easter?! I had the pleasant surprise of finding out Monday that our office was closed Friday. Yippee! So, Matt & I slept in 'till 11 & 11:30, respectively (which was glorious), and then pretty much did a whole lot of nothing the rest of the day. I did have a lovely time with the Lord in the backyard with this beast at my feet... But then we made up for our laziness on Saturday where  Matt built me this wonderful table for the laundry room: And then, for fun, I painted my toenails all pretty-like. And we went to Wal-Mart (with the rest of Lbk), and I cleaned the whole house, and watered the yard, and went to Lowe's, and Matt put up my trellises, etc. And on Sunday, we got all dressed up to join my family at church. It was so incredibly packed, but thankfully, we got there early for Matt to help usher. I just wish all the ppl that come to church on Easter & Christmas would come every other Sunday too. It...

5-year-olds make Christmas better.

One thing I forgot to mention during our very productive weekend was the fact that my dear, sweet, handsome husband stayed up 'till 3 AM organizing the laundry room and "wedding room" as we have dubbed the catch-all room of wedding gifts, decor, scrapbook, memorabilia, etc. He said he knew I'd like to have it in order for the family coming over the next day. Then, on the way home from church, I asked if he could clean off the front porch, but NO, he had already done that in the wee hours of the morning as well! Sometimes his insomnia is a blessing. This morning, Walker, my 5-year-old nephew, sang with his fellow kindergartners at the mall, so naturally, Dad and I skipped work to go see him. One of his sweet classmates handed me a Christmas card that he had colored. I don't know this child from Adam, but he must've thought I needed Jesus. He was right.  Courtney is such a trooper! Walking around the mall looking as cute as a button pushing a ...

Branson - The Hottest Place on Earth

Image
So, you might have thought Lubbock, TX was the hottest place on earth, but I'm afraid you were mistaken. Branson is definitely hotter. Like 100 degrees and 90% humidity hotter. I felt like my body was used to it though b/c I didn't die. Last week my family headed up to Branson, MO, aka "Vegas for Old People". No offense to older people. And actually, it's gotten a lot better over the last 5 years. The outlets are awesome (especially COACH)! The restaurants are nice. Especially Landry's! And my siblings thoroughly enjoyed their outings to Silver Dollar City. With and without the children. So, we went to Branson for a family reunion and it was really nice. It was a very short trip for Matt & I b/c we only drove down (12 hours) w/ my cousins on Thursday, stayed two days, and then came home. Agh! This is Matt being cute while sleeping. And I had the privilege of staying in the same suite as my two lovely twin nieces who decided 6:30 AM was an appropriate time ...

Ten Commandments Memorization

I have one million...and one...plans going through my head, but I am working very hard to keep them at bay until a certain thing happens first. I know, I'm being very vague, but I have also been working on NOT talking about this subject everywhere that I can b/c people say mean things and give me mean looks and my very sensitive little girl feelers couldn't handle it anymore. But...all shall be revealed in due time! So, next is my new obsession. The Lose IT! app. You can set a goal weight, a timeline, and then keep track of all your caloric intake and exercises throughout the day. It's quite fun and wonderful and addicting! Oh, and it's free! My 2 favorite quotes from the past few days: Walker: "Let's listen to GiGi, Addi. Remember, honor your father and mother. And your aunts." (Cutest nephew ever!) Matthew: "Trust me. It will be brilliant." So, I trust and wait and plan secretly and enjoy my life as it is. wonderful.

"Burger" Boy

Image
How odd. I just noticed that my butt isn't near as sore today as it was yesterday, and I even did a 2nd Spin class yesterday... That's strange. Anywho, my 2nd attempt at Spin was BRUTAL! The instructor looked AWESOME, and wanted all of us to look AWESOME as well, I guess, b/c she worked us to the bone. I guess "Never trust a skinny cook" goes the same for fitness instructors, "Never trust a fat instructor." Is that rude? Sorry if it is! But you get what I'm saying, right? Walker visited me at work today. I love that he enjoys visiting GiGi at the office so much even if it only means that he gets to sit on the couch eating candy and watching "Pink Nanther". (That's "Panther" for those of you who don't speak 5-year-old boy.) At one point he was sitting on the edge of the couch looking very uncomfortable. I said, "What's up, bud?" To which he answered my sticking out his pointer finger at me and saying, "I'...
