Donnie Darko Ruined Bunnies For Me

Well, how was your Easter?! I had the pleasant surprise of finding out Monday that our office was closed Friday. Yippee! So, Matt & I slept in 'till 11 & 11:30, respectively (which was glorious), and then pretty much did a whole lot of nothing the rest of the day. I did have a lovely time with the Lord in the backyard with this beast at my feet... But then we made up for our laziness on Saturday where  Matt built me this wonderful table for the laundry room: And then, for fun, I painted my toenails all pretty-like. And we went to Wal-Mart (with the rest of Lbk), and I cleaned the whole house, and watered the yard, and went to Lowe's, and Matt put up my trellises, etc. And on Sunday, we got all dressed up to join my family at church. It was so incredibly packed, but thankfully, we got there early for Matt to help usher. I just wish all the ppl that come to church on Easter & Christmas would come every other Sunday too. It...

Lights, Doors, and Bean Burritos

Remember the trim I was painting a couples weeks ago? Well, it finally made it into our bathrooms! No matter that the man we hired to install the trim left wood shavings all over our garage on one of the many days it was blowing 40 mph winds last week, decided to set my Wallflower upside down on my jewelry chest causing it to completely leak out and strip the varnish off the chest, and went to the restroom in our bathroom subsequently not flushing and leaving the seat up...But the trim looks good and  I guess, technically, that's all we paid him to do. And then I decided I wanted a new entryway light, so Matt slaved over installing this beaut for me... BEFORE AFTER And while we were in the Home Improvement mode, we bought a new storm door... b/c our house was looking a little out of place without one. Matt & I LOVE doing house projects together, and it has really given him ownership of the house since it was just mine before we got marri...

Our latest project: bathroom mirror trim. Our mirrors are just normal, no-trim mirrors, so we decided to jazz them up a bit. The same guy who built our beautiful chandelier stands at our wedding is doing them. I first had to prime them, sand them, and am now in the process of several coats of black paint. I feel much like the girl who always wears pink on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. I bet she gets a lot of guys b/c she knows how to saw. Corner designs Oh, and let me tell you my disappointing shopping experience this weekend... I like to wait 'till the middle of the month to spend all my "Clothes" money b/c if I spend it all up front I get depressed if I ever see a sale during the month, and I don't have enough self-control to wait 'till the end of the month. So, I went to Dillard's Saturday for some leggings and jeans. That's it. Didn't even venture into the shoe department. Well, I found several 65% racks ...

Lightning Strikes House! (minus the lightning part)

How do these weekends keep passing by so quickly?! Matt & I jam-pack our weekends with so many projects that by Sunday evening, We. Are. Pooped! This weekend he hung the ironing board rack in the laundry room, we further organized our "wedding room" All the boxes we chunked from our "office!" (maybe one day it will actually be an office!), I cleaned the house for our Superbowl party, I painted my toenails (highest priority!), we hired a guy to frame our bathroom mirrors (exciting!), I ironed his work shirts, and we actually unpacked our pots & pans from our wedding shower! Wow, that's a lot of exclamation points. My high school English teacher would NOT be proud of me....! Rabbit Trail: Investing in dogs mean investing in a lifetime of abnormally dirty carpet. And while I was 2 seconds away from hiring someone to shampoo them, I was raised in a strict DIY household, so without the blessing of my husband I borro...
