Nothing like knocking out resolutions the 1st week of the year!

Over Christmas break, Matt & I sat on the couch, ate from our huge bowl of candy, and watched TV. And every 3 1/2 monutes or so, I felt bad that we weren't being more productive. That guilt came every 3 hours or so after the candy coma hit. BTW: I LOVE Candaaayyyyyy!!!!!! I'm like a little kid! But I never buy it, b/c I know it's bad, and unhealthy, blah, blah, blah. But now, we have TONS of it from Christmas, and I can't just let it go to waste... Ugh, such an inner battle (and outer once my pants become tighter). Anyway, over New Years' Break, I decided we would not be unproductive on this extended weekend! So, we did A LOT! Like, I was pooped Tuesday morning b/c we worked so hard, but it feels GREAT! I painted the laundry room Sat. afternoon,    (as you can see, the laundry room is very dull) Matt put together 2 sets of nightmare cabinets for the laundry room, and hung a clothes rod in there. Then, Sun., I decided I wanted...

Because who doesn't enjoy a good pair of Betty Boop PJs?!

Well, the saying is true... "'Tis better to give than receive." I hand-picked out all the 12 Days of Christmas gifts for my Mom (from my Dad), and express-shipped Mom's ring (from Dad) so it would actually get here before Christmas, and I reminded my parents to buy their exchange name a gift, and I uploaded a picture of my Dad's parents from 30 years ago, blew it up, and framed it for my very grateful father, but best of all, I surprised my new husband with the one thing he's been "subtly" dropping hints about for weeks now. A gun. No, ladies, I don't understand it either. The men in my family try to compare it to us buying shoes or handbags. But I still don't get it. At least you can store things in handbags and they can be seen by everyone you pass. Or shoes can be walked in and look stylish at the same time. A gun shoots. That's it.  It's made to kill and/or destroy things. And they're bloody ex...

How can we bless others this Christmas?

This holiday season has been a bit surreal to me, in general. I feel like we got back from our honeymoon, and all of a sudden it was Christmas. I put up some decor on the mantle, but we don't have a tree. No wrapped presents laying around (seeing as how we decided not to get each other anything.) The only presents in the house are the ones I'm wrapping for family members. I am the official gift-wrapper of the family! I LOVE wrapping gifts! Probably b/c I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I get this completely satisfied feeling when the paper fits the gift just right. That's why I have a slight collection of boxes. Kids' toys are a NIGHTMARE to wrap, so everything gets a box so it's symmetrical! I digress... So, it still doesn't feel like Christmas to me. I realize we're a couple days away, but mostly I'm just excited to have a break from work...again... But, in the midst of all the craziness of my brother, Billy's, life, h...

What do Pinwheels, Linen Closets and Santa Dogs have in common?

If you feel like you're weekend was unproductive and are kicking yourself for it this morning,  then this blog will not make you feel any better. Matt & I have been busy little beavers ever since we've gotten married 6 weeks ago. We made a list Friday morning of all the stuff we wanted to get accomplished this weekend,  and I'm proud to say I checked all but one thing off my list! Wrap gifts. Blast. Still have to do that. Thursday, his firm took us to eat at Harrigan's followed by drinks and dessert at the Ziegler's lovely home in Vintage complete with a gift exchagne.  They always give the BEST gifts! Last year I got to pick out the iPod speakers. This year Matt chose an XBox, and despite all my coaxing to the other employees no one bought it from us. I'm incredibly fearful of acquiring a video-game fanatic husband now. Fantasy Football takes up enough time... Then, Friday we had a lovely soup dinner at our friends, the Berrys, ...
